Mathematics

Pre-Algebra
The basic math skills and concepts developed in this discipline are useful to all students.
The purpose of this course is to have students master the skills necessary to succeed in an algebra I class. .

Alegebra I
The Algebra skills and concepts developed in this discipline are useful to all students.
The purpose of this course is to have students master the skills necessary to succeed in
Geometry the following year.

Geometry
The Geometry skills and concepts developed in this discipline are useful to all students.
The purpose of this course is to have students master the skills necessary to succeed in
Algebra 2 the following year.

Algebra II
Algebra II is the second course in algebra which reviews elementary algebra and develops additional algebra topics essential to higher mathematics. It includes problem solving strategies in conjunction with the knowledge of the inter connections among algebra, geometry, and functions. It will extend the use of trigonometric functions. Students will learn to use scientific and graphing calculators effectively and efficiently, and students will develop confidence in creating and persevering in their own mathematical approaches to problems.

Pre-Calculus
Pre-calculus is a fourth-year college prep course, which reviews advanced algebra and develops additional topics essential to higher mathematics. It includes appropriate emphasis on discrete mathematics and data analysis, subjects that provide the mathematical framework for many important contemporary applications. Students will investigate topics in a way that encourages them to become actively involved to develop quantitative reasoning and problem-solving skills. Students will increase their appreciation of mathematics through seeing a wide range of mathematical applications.

Calculus
Calculus is a fourth-year college prep course, which reviews concepts in Pre-Calculus and develops additional topics essential to higher mathematics.  It includes appropriate emphasis on series, limits, derivatives and integrals of functions.  In addition, many subjects providing the mathematical framework for many important contemporary applications.  Students will investigate topics in a way that encourages them to become actively involved to develop quantitative reasoning and problem-solving skills.  Students will increase their appreciation of mathematics through seeing a wide range of mathematical applications.

Business Math
This course is structured around math review, personal finance and business mathematics.  The strength of this course is the ability to strengthen each student’s basic skills in personal mathematics and finance.  This class is a building block from Pre-Algebra and Algebra I to Business Mathematics.  This course will cover extensive problem-solving skills including fractions, gross and net income, checking accounts, savings, statistics, payroll, compound interest, credit cards and loans and investments, to name a few.  This course is designed to give practical hands on experience through daily living applying financial management goals and objectives within the Business Mathematics course to prepare each student for living in the real world.
