English 10:
This course provides students with exposure to several genres of literature. Students will actively respond to the core works through reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities. The genres covered this semester will be a combination of short story, novel, poetry, and nonfiction with an historical emphasis. All students will learn to write clear and concise prose connected to the literature, with an emphasis on critical thinking skills.

English 11:

All students will learn to write clear and concise prose connected to the literature, with an emphasis on critical thinking skills.

English B1A:
 
This semester-long course engages in expository reading and writing. Emphasizes the organization and development of expository essays, study of style, application of critical thinking and writing skills and preparation of a research paper. Students in English B1A are required to write 8000 words for the semester. This class is aligned to English B1A at Bakersfield College.  Students in this course are concurrently enrolled and FMHS and Bakersfield College and will receive 3 college units upon successful completion of the course.  

ERWC
The ERWC course is designed to increase your academic preparation for college. The following questions will help you think about what to expect for college and career and what you need to work on to be successful. In this course we will be writing on a daily basis.  This course will prepare you for the college placement test and, those who successfully complete the course with a C or better, should place in college level English.
