Science

Biology
Biology is a year long science class which promotes interest in life sciences through laboratory inquiry and investigation. Learning will take place through lectures, reading the textbook, interactive computer programs, videos, laboratory experiments, research projects, high interest reading articles, investigating relevant sites, homework, quizzes, and tests.

Chemistry
Chemistry is a year long college-preparatory class which is designed to meet the "F" requirement of the University of California, and which promotes interest in Chemistry through laboratory inquiry and investigation. Learning will take place through lectures, reading the textbook, interactive computer programs, videos, laboratory experiments, research projects, high interest research articles, investigating relevant internet sites, homework, quizzes and tests.

Chemistry B2a
Chemistry B2a is a semester long college-level science class that will allow dual enrollment with Frazier Mountain High School and Bakersfield College. It is a course currently offered at Bakersfield College and it follows the same course outline. In dual enrollment, students will be enrolled at Frazier Mountain High School and Bakersfield College concurrently. Unlike the general chemistry college prep class, this course is a 2 period class allowing for greater class and laboratory time and more extensive learning. Dual enrollment allows each student to earn 4 college units at Bakersfield College. These units can be used at Bakersfield College or transferred to another college. It is designed to meet requirements of of an introductory chemistry college class and to prepare students for the first semester of college general chemistry. Learning will take place through lectures, team inquiry, peer-to-peer instruction, textbook reading assignments, laboratory experiments, computational work, research projects, high interest reading articles, investigation and discussion of current science topics, relevant internet sites, interactive computer programs, videos, homework, quizzes, and tests.

Physics
Physics is a college-preparatory science class, which promotes interest in Physics through laboratory inquiry and investigation. Learning will take place through lectures, reading the textbook, interactive computer programs, videos, laboratory experiments, research projects, high interest reading articles, investigating relevant internet sites, homework, quizzes, and tests.

Integrated Science
This course is designed to provide students with basic foundation for future specific science classes. It deals with some topics from Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science and Environmental Science, Biology and their application in daily life. Students will master these concepts by participating in laboratory activities, scientific projects/reports and written and oral assignments
